Heat Tape

So I've heard a lot of people suggest heat tape for heating tanks. What is it and where do you get it? Is it expensive? I've got my albino in a 10g with a small heat mat on the bottom and can barely get 80 degrees. This may just be because I just cleaned his tank and it hasn't had time to acclimate. There is also a layer of rocks over the heat mat to prevent burns. I've been using a space heater on and off to raise the temps but it just falls within a few minutes. I'd like to get this heat tape if its not too expensive and use it on the warm side along with my UTH.

If you're not very good with wiring electrics, you want to avoid heat tape. If you don't wire it up correctly it's a big fire hazard. It's the same kind of material found in heat mats, but you cut it yourself and wire it up yourself. I would think an electrical parts store would sell it.
