That is an excellent video for the treatment. We did this for 200 froglets from the first spawning we produced. As you can imagine, it was very time consuming so we now offer instructions to each individual purchaser.

We also noticed some odd behaviors in some of our earlier animals. The loss of appetite, the "flipping" and a weakness & loss of control of the front legs, water-logged frogs & excessive shed. We have since worked out alot of husbandry (mostly temperature) issues.

We add a small amount of liquid calcium to the water after it has been de-chlorinated when we do cleaning for the tadpoles. We also allowed Nature to take it's course in the early days of life as well.......yes, we allowed the cannibalism that occurs in Nature to happen. As a result, the metamorphed froglets are stronger & healthier than prior spawns were. We try to clean everything they come into contact with, if it cannot be decontaminated, it is disposed of. This keeps the possibility of Chytrid very low. Since the changes, we have not had any recurrence of the front leg issues or the "flipping".

I took Grif to the vet today. Apparently he is anorexic. No signs of Chytrid or impaction though, so that's good. They gave him a Baytril injection to boost his appetite. He also has a de-wormer and antibiotic that I have to give him. The vet said that it was very, very good that I brought him in because apparently most people wait too long before they take them to a vet, and by that point it's usually too late. I am SO GLAD that we erred on the side of caution and took him to the vet. I love my little guy and would definitely rather pay the vet fee and be sure he's ok!!

I wouldn't have thought it would be so hard to find a vet that treats amphibians in a city this size, but I had to call several before I found one. I like this vet. He was very thorough. He asked all kinds of questions about Grif's symptoms, what he ate/how much/how often, temperature, humidity, environment, water treatment, if we use calcium supplement, etc. He has even been to Argentina and knew a bit about Pacmans! Now at least I have a good vet to take him to if something goes wrong (which hopefully it won't!) All the employees made a big fuss over Grif and said how adorable he was and took pictures of him to put on their bulletin board. Grif was a very good patient. Although he was grumpy when they gave him his shot. Poor thing!

I'm a little nervous about giving him medicine (it has to be squirted into his mouth). Hopefully he will cooperate. We'll see tonight if he eats anything tonight...I'll keep you posted! (Sorry for the long post!)

Wow, I'm glad to hear about your frog, its strange he is anorexic O.O Never heard of such a thing. I wish I could take my little Rupert to the vet but I simply can not afford it at this time. There is an exotic vet in the next town but I have a feeling they wouldn't know a pacman frog from any other frog :/ Can't wait to see him improve

Thanks! I actually just checked out the vet's website and they have a promotion going, no examination fees for new patients but there website doesn't list amphibians, only some reptiles and turtles. I shot them an email so perhaps I'll get to go to the vet as well.

I really hope they treat Rupert. I felt so helpless until now. I put him back in coco husk so he's really happy and buried himself right away. His color came back too. He was looking really pale from being on those paper towels. Grif is definetly not going to like taking his medicine, but then again who does.
