I just went to Sears for a couple things, and ran across a new product that screamed "perfect cricket duster".

It's called a viewtainer, and made in various sizes. The smallest is a 2" diameter and about 4" tall. The cool thing about them is that they are made out of a soft, flexible plastic, with a slit lid. By squeezing the sides of the container, the lid flexes open, to a maximum of about .5" wide.

After shaking up the crickets, you can invert the container and apply gentle pressure to create a crack wide enough to dump any excess powder without losing any crickets, then move to your enclosure and squeeze it wide open. The best part is, they're cheaper than dirt. Right now Sears carries them, but here is their website as well.

Just thought I'd give you a heads up. It's easier than any method I've tried before.
