    Default Digging in...

when I got home last night all three of the tree frogs were burried. I thought they hang out on the branches? I dug them up... rinsed them off with the mister and then they hung out in the branches... was my tank to dry? was my house to cold? any thought... getting a big tank for them today... 50 gallon tall. will get some plants and I saw someone photo with ropes for them to climb... do I want nylon or cotton or does it not matter?... they all seem to be eating the 12 small crickets are gone... and if I understand the care sheet I put in 12 for the 3 frogs every 3 days? The one thing I like about the tree frogs... they are not skittish like the bull frogs...

I'm definitely not an expert, but I have heard of tree frogs doing this before. I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they do it for moisture. What kind do you have? Sounds like they are doing well, and I'm sure they will enjoy their new home!

I have two grays myself, but they are fairly young, about a month and a half since they morphed. I have a hard time finding one of them during the day, so I think he may be digging in as well. The humidity for gray tree frogs should be around 50 to 60%, but they can handle a wider range as well. I have a little humidity gauge to keep an eye on it, you might want to get one of those if you're worried about it.

I forgot to add, do you have a water bowl they can soak in as well? I think they tend to burrow when they don't have that option.

the dish is huge... 3 inches deep by 4 x 9 inches long they could have a party in there... change water daily... will get a humid thing on the way home from work today... I realy like watching them... and they like to sit on you... my bullfog does not like being held... he will tolerate it for a few moments... but other than that he wants to eat and sleep with a little swim eveyr now and again.

They are definitely great frogs! I think you should be fine with the humidity and the gauge should help you check that and make sure. I think your frog just likes to dig a little, but it's nothing to worry about. You'll have to post pictures of their new home. I'm working on getting a nice vivarium set up for my grays right now, but it will be a while before it's done. They're still pretty small, so they can handle their smaller tank, but hopefully within a month they will be in their new one. I'm doing a lot of real plants, so I want it to grow for a while and settle before transferring the frogs over.
