Safe plants

Just like to say hey, I'm Kristen. I have 4 new FBT. I have them in a 10 gallon tank. right now with a few rocks and things with water. its only for right now. I'm trying to turn a 45 gallon tank into there new home.

So if you lovely guys and gals have ideas and pictures that would be great. I'm also looking for safe plants that can be used. I want to keep the tank as natural as i can. thanks!!

I think these are good idea starters! But make them better on your own standards/terms!

[Firebelly love]

Hey, I'm in a similar situation. I have 3 toads in a 10 g. And I'm trying to convert my 55 g. into their new home, but first have to get rid of all it's current fishy inhabitants. I use some bamboo in their current enclosure. Along with a few other plants that a Petco assistant helped me pick out, when I was buying the little guys. You want to try and find mostly live plants, but if you are running short on time and money fake plants are also a pretty good substitution. I use them myself.

I have a fern in my tank ... i will go and check when it is when i am at home. FBT's are pretty hard on plants, they thing they are tree frogs and will leap all over them. I've read that Pothos (Epipremnum aureum (ithink!)) is a pretty tough plant and may do well with little creatures as boisterous as fire bellies!

here is a picture of my 35 hex that would work well for firebellies.





Almost any plant would work... for terrestial plants be sure that they are free of any fertilizers that can leach into the soil, then into the water. As far as aquatic plants: tough stuff like anubia, java moss or java fern always works well, all are low light, grow well in shallow water, can be attached (using thread) to rocks/wood, and all can and will grow out of the water, like a bog plant.

Oops... I should have listed what is in this hex:
Moss, schiffilara (unbrella plant), dwarf mongo grass, hardy fern, and fittonia, will all stand up to firebelly toads. The maidenhair fern is too fragile. Give the plant a couple of weeks to get estabished before adding toads.

The pictures were taken within a day of construction, before I decided what to add to it. It currently houses a pair for firebelly newts and 6 white clouds (fish). the water level has been increased to about a inch below the land.
