So I went to the big city and fell for an exoterra 18x18x24 (tall) terrarium and brought it home. I would like to set it up in the rainforest look with some vines and bromeliads.
I am partial to the small - to medium sized hylids or reed frogs.
- should be CB, not WC
- frogs should be happy with fruit flies and crickets as a staple, with other stuff supplemented
- frogs should not require super-high humidity or temp; I'm thinking temps in the mid-70ies (plus basking spot) during the day and into the 60ies at night, and humidity between 60-80 most of the time.
- I live in a cool climate and if ever the power goes out when I'm not at home, temps could fall into the low 50ies or even 40ies. Not that this has happened before, but it's a possibility. Ideally, should be a species who can survive that.
I am very fond of the Madagascar powder-blue reeds, ebraccata or leucophyllata, mossies, bird-poops...are any of these suitable to these conditions? Are there any other suggestions?
Also, could they be compatible with bromeliads, climate-wise? I love bromeliads and would like to include some in the tank![]()
