Frog help need now

well most of the crickets are huge and are bigger than he is so i picked them out and left 3 little baby crickets. there a little bigger than his eye so i figured keep them in their instead of killing them in the process of taking them out with tweezers. i got them all out by tweezers. i got them by their big hind legs they use for jumping. now half of them only have one of those big legs but those ones kept jumping so i figured there ok what can i feed them to keep them alive? i dont have any oranges right now so what other food id find around the house would work? im planning on starting a small culture and feed some of the small ones to him instead of buying the ones i got and having 17 big ones and 9 small ones. and are the boxes of live crickets you find at petsmart gut loaded?

Hey PJ,
The crickets you feed should be no bigger than the width of your frogs head. Although he can force it down, its better to feed something more reasonable to swallow.

Sounds like you should pick up some more small crickets.

You can also put a piece of Potato in with the crickets to feed them while your waiting to get some gutload.

Cool I have tons of left over veggies he's been eating alot. I keep one spare cricket in his cage so if I'm gone he will just eat it. When I leave the one cricket in their he keeps hiding I guess cause he doesn't have any cricket friend that will get eaten instead of him wheres a good chain store to buy adult crickets at do I can start a culture and now since he's eating more I'll poblably split half on the little crickets. Half to continue the culture and half for feeding purposes.

i got him a water dish today he went into it and stayed their for a couple minutes and then kept going in and out. hes so cute.

Sounds like you are doing okay. But the crickets need to be smaller! (As Don said) the crickets should be no bigger than the width of the frogs head! Your toad will not be happy if the crickets are eating him! So, I would get smaller crickets!

Until I can start my cricket culture I will just buy them at petsmart and make sure their small enough for him to eat and cover them in the special powder vitamins.
