I bet it was a gray tree frog, not a green. Grays are green much of the time, particularly in hot weather, and they seem to get into warehouse type buildings a lot for some reason.
I work at an industrial manufacturing warehouse, in other words, a very dangerous place for small animals to come wandering in. But it does happen from time to time. A few weeks ago, I noticed a small frog hopping around a really dangerous area, where he could've been squished by a lift truck. I immediately ran to scoop him up. But he was so hoppy. I had to get help catching him. I took the frog outside and noticed immediately he was different than most frogs I've rescued since he had the sticky feet of a tree frog that as far I know aren't native to North Georgia. I gave Mr. Froggy a stern talking-to about safety and the dangers of heavy machinery. Then I set him free in the grass. The next night at work after worrying all day the fate of the tree frog I rescued, the maintenance man at my work walked up with the frog! The very same frog hopped his way back into my work! I figured it was kismet! We were meant to be, lol. So I put him in a vented cup, stopped by the store for food and habitat and brought him home! I have to say, I love the little guy. After doing my research, I've come to the conclusion he's an American Green Tree Frog. Since he's not native to this area but he is in south Georgia, I think he may have hitched a ride on one of our many transfer trucks from there. I will post pics as soon as I can. Any advice is welcome. I'm planning on getting a red eye tree frog (in a separate terrarium of course) for my son's upcoming birthday.

Thanks for the reply! I will post pics as soon as I have access to a computer again since I'm on my phone right now. Tyler, as he was named by my daughter, is medium green (changes color with his surroundings) with a white stripe down each side with big, floppy, sticky feet. Lol. I haven't looked up a gray tree frog.
OK I figured out how to post pics with my phone but only in my album. So if you could check it out and let me know what kind he is I'd appreciate it. Thanks. :-)
Most definitely a green tree frog! Great find. Definitely get that bark out of there though and get some coco fiber in there. It's a huge impaction hazard. That's a pretty frog though, congratulationsI don't know much about green tree frogs specifically, but I would think you can read the gray tree frog care sheet and get the info you need off of there.

Hi welcome to the forum that's a beautiful frog you have.
To add a photo in a post at the top of the message box there's a little icon of 2 mountains and little black sun click that and go from there.
Another method is when writing a message scroll down and click on manage attachments click browse if the photo is on your computer or copy the url if it is on the web and paste that in one of the boxes under the 'upload a file from url' and then click upload.
Thanks for the reply, Amy. Yeah, I have plans to get him new substrate in the morning! I was thinking the coco fiber like you said or maybe some astro turf of some kind? I'm also going to get him more things to climb on. It's cute to watch him discover something new I put in his habitat. He hops all over it like a kid at Christmas.
Thanks for the info, Luke. I'll definately be referring back to it a lot. I'm technologically stupid sometimes. Lol
It will definitely love more branches. Being a tree frog, think trees! I would go with the coco fiber, it is safe plus you can eventually put live plants in itMy tree frogs hate the coco fiber, but I have it covered with live moss, large flat river rocks, and other types of plants. Plus I have a bunch of branches in there, so they almost never touch the ground, usually only to snag a cricket that didn't make its way up a branch.

Congrats on your new frog. A simple thing to do is put down leaf litter over the substrate which will keep him from getting covered in coco fiber and help you to keep your tank glass clean. Starting him with a cricket bowl will help to reduce crickets from wandering off and dying in the tank. You can get crickets at any of the big box petstores or a local reptile shop. That will be his main diet. You will also need to pick up some vitamin/calcium supplements to dust the crickets with. Also provide a shallow water bowl for him to soak in with tap water treated with a water conditioner that is used to remove chlorine ...just like they use for fish. LOTS of plants will help him to feel more comfortable. LOTS of broad sturdy leaves. Did I say LOTS. I can't emphasize that enough. He should be able to hide from you completely if he wants. The more opportunities he has to hide the LESS he will hide. He will move around more and be more active. When you first get them they will be all over the tank looking for an escape route and checking out their surroundings. As they get use to their new environment how you have it set up will determine how active the frog is going forward. Help him to feel as comfortable as possible and you will enjoy your new friend.
Amy, I looked at your pics for inspiration and now I can't wait to get to the pet store! Great pics!
Thank you! It was a lot of work, but I have very happy tree frogs now. That was my first "build" Others on here have even more fantastic beautiful vivs than me. Good luck and have fun! You'll be amazed how much money you can spend on a tree frog LOL

Cheri, thanks for the info and tips. It didn't occur to me that the more hiding places he has, the less he'll hide but I guess it make sense since he'll have a lot more things to jump on and climb on.
Scstewart20,
Welcome to the Forum!
That's a great story, looks like he was meant to come home with you!
You must also be a Nascar Race fan! I'm gonna make a wild guess and say Tony Stewart #20?

Actually, that's just purely coincidental! I had no idea, I just used my first two initials,my last name, and the day i was born lol but that's neat its his number. Anyway, I was just making an update that I kept all your guys advice in mind when I went to the pet shop. Tyler has a whole new terrarium with coconut fiber substrate, two branches, river rocks, two live plants and several fake ones to provide more hiding spaces. Its not elaborate but he's happy with it for now and its still a work in progress. Pics are located in my new photo album!
It's looking good! As those plants grow in, you'll have one very happy frog![]()

LOL...That is a big coincidence! Too funny! Maybe you should become a nascar fan, he might be a long lost cousin.
Anyway, great to hear about your frog and the new setup! Good Job!
