Question Need an ID on a frog

    Hi,
I have to admit to knowing nothing about frogs & toads other than when I saw them and sometimes caught them as a kid. Anyway, I was hoping for some help in identifying this frog I saw today. It actually looked more like a toad to me but it was almost all white with some irregular greenish lines across it's body. It had little round cups(?) at the end of its fingers and since it climbed up the side of the pool, and later when I moved it away from the pool filter, onto a tree - I'm thinking it's a tree frog(toad?). It was approx. the size of a silver dollar (when it was sitting with it's legs tucked in). I've never seen anything like it. I'm in Massachusetts if that's any help.
I was just curious to know if anyone recognizes this frog since I could not find it using Google & other searches.

    Thanks so much.

Possible an Eastern Gray Tree Frog, Hyla versicolor, or a Cope's Gray Tree Frog, Hyla chrysoscelis, (I'm not positive if the Cope's are in your area, the two versions are visually indistinguishable). Their colour can vary greatly, near white is possible. They are bumpy and I've seen them referred to as "Tree Toads". They have sticky toe pads for climbing stuff.

I have pics in my albums and there is a link to a care article on the left for more info about them (google as well of course) so you can see if my guess is any good

Thank you Uncle Chester, Froog & LilyPad,

I'm sure that what I saw was an Eastern gray tree frog. What a beautiful little frog. The coloring was very white. I'm so glad I got to see him/her and also glad that I got such a fast & accurate response from you guys. Thanks again.

Definitely a Hyla versicolor. We don't have Cope's, H. chrysocelis here. The gray treefrog's species name "versicolor" refers to the fact that it can change color, from gray to white to brown to green.
