I got my 10-gallon aquarium set up today and transplanted my Fowler's toadlets from
the temporary half-gallon tank they were in:
As some of you have noted, the hide may be unnecessary, and if that turns out to be
the case I will remove it. So far, they are using it a bit, and also climbing on the outside
of it! Any suggestions on ways to improve it are certainly welcome.

They look strangely similar in color to the substrate. Must make for fun finding them if they dig!

Looks like a good set up for growing toadies, nothing to fall on them, etc. It's good to see them climbing and working their muscles.
Also major props on the introduction of the rocks, giving them a difference surface to sit on. Some toads I've had in the past just like sitting on something flat and dry.
I have been surprised at their climbing tendencies, even in the old tank. They would get up on top of the bark hide pretty often, and one of them thought he was a tree frog for a day and did this:
You had better believe I made sure my screen lid on the new tank fit well, after watching that!
I thought the rocks might be good for feeding as well as just being something different. I reasoned that it would be easier to see tiny bugs on a rock, and easier to eat them there without getting a mouthful of substrate. This will probably matter less when they get larger and can eat crickets etc.
As of this morning, 2 of the 3 toads have buried themselves to the point that I can't find them. I'm just letting them be for the moment, no need to dig them up if they are getting some quality sleep. The other toad hangs around on the big rock a lot. I am not using a lamp, as there are windows on two walls in that room and it seems bright enough to me.
That is fun!! Looks like they're happy little toads in thereLove seeing the one hanging off the glass though LOL

Update - a couple of new pics of my bark-climbing friends:
One of the toads has buried itself so completely that I haven't seen it for more than
24 hours. It looks like I only have 2 toads. At what point should I start to be concerned
and gently poke around for it?
