Dig'em is by far the strangest frog I have. He's a Cope's Gray Tree Frog... I got up early this morning and actually got to see him in action. He has the same routine everyday I believe. At night after the lights and TV go out, he climbs out of his hole that he burrowed under the water dish. (It's not the first hole he's dug, that's why his name is Dig'em) Then he hops and climbs around for a while looking for food. He eats, then he climbs up on the glass and sticks to it for a while. Then there is a few hours that I don't know what he does... because I'm asleep. Then when morning comes he climbs up on the branches, and sits for a while, then he climbs and swings around on them. Next, he hops in the water bowl for a soak. He sits in there for about 1 1/2 minutes, then hops out and disappears in a blink of an eye, into his hole under the water bowl. I don't think he is trying to hide, because he SINGS under there!! And I change the water daily so I am always removing the bowl and exposing him. He sits in his hole and ambushes crickets when they walk by. I swear he is a toad... or thinks he is... He prefers to dig holes instead of climbing. I know I posted this video yesterday in my other thread about my froggies names. But, I'm posting it again to show y'all one of his old holes.

That is hilarious!!! My tree frogs never leave their branches except to soak and hunt! Maybe he was housed with toads at some point?? LOL

Gray Tree Frogs dig when the humidity is low, or when they are hibernating. Since the second option is unlikely right now, it sounds to me like the humidity in his terrarium is either (a) not high enough, or (b) it's yo-yoing over the period of a day. You need to fix this problem because it is stressing your frog, however mildly.

I keep my humidity at 60%-70%, and that's usually for my entire house, as I live in Louisiana.
He is the only frog that buries itself, my other Gray Tree Frog basks all day. He's buried himself since I got him and I was starting to think it was just a habit. Thanks for letting me know my humidity is not good. Although it should get better when I am finished with my vertical conversion. Right now I have a screen lid which lets a lot of the humidity out and I am always misting them. So it could be yo-yoing like you said. I don't want to cover it with anything because I'm worried that they won't get enough air. Thanks again John. Now that I know I have a problem I can do something about it!
I keep glad press and seal on my lid (leaving an opening for the lamp and about an inch around it) to keep the humidity in my tank up. When I turned on my a/c, there was no way I could keep it at proper levels with a full screen top.

Thanks Amy. I'll have to try that. What is your humidity at?? Just wondering
It usually maintains 75% but when I mist it bumps up to around 80% for a half hour or so. Since doing the glad press and seal, I only have to mist a few times a week.
