Just apply some pressure to the foam and it will come off the glass fairly easy. Any left over can be cleaned up with a razor blade. The great thing about foam is its ease of use. The bad thing about foam is its not natural. I've been using a combination of foam and Kitty litter for my backgrounds on the last few builds. Foam is great for securing items in place. Once dry cover with silicone and peat/coco fiber/wood chunks. Then add your clay around the foam. One other trick with foam and tall backgrounds is to build some ledges as support for the clay. I did this with my 40 gallon vert. Foam for ledges and plant pots surrounded by the clay.

Thanks for the information, I'm DEFINITELY going that route over the silicone!! I want to add some pots in there too so it might be nice to use that to shape around them.
