Lightbulb I don't want to silicone! Any ideas?

I think I should put a larger body of water in my viv. It's proving to be trial and error.
I have loads of plants wood and a water fall feature with its own pump and have had them in there with these 2 setups.
At first I had built up land area and filled the bottom of my viv with water (much like Ebonys) but It was all good for a while but I got sick of having to syphon off the water every week and lots of algae grew and my Green & Gold Bell frogs just hid in the water and turned brown also the bugs I gave them mostly drowned. Too much water perhaps.

So I filled the bottom with pebbles and bought a water dish (about 20cm diameter and 2" deep) so I could just change the water in the dish and waterfall. It works well and is very easy to clean but my frogs are mostly still brown, I worry about them eating the pebbles and it doesn't look overly comfortable even with the wood and leaves and large rocks to sit on. Not enough water perhaps.

I want to create my viv so that it has a very slow moving body of water that is about a third of the tank which is recommended. I want to be able to see the body of water through the glass. My main query is: Is there a way contain water without having to silicone another piece of glass into my tank and still have a veiw through the glass?

I still want pebble substrate but want to cover it with a moss carpet that will grow directly off the pebbles so that there is no soil in my frogs home other than the potted plants which will be buried in the pebbles.

What kind of moss does that? I was thinking of Helxine soleirolii otherwise known as Irish moss or Baby tears.

Please guys, have you any suggestions?
