I don't know what the process normally is for cleaning live plants and putting them in the viv...but this is what I do.
1. Rinse the plant, rinse all the original soil off, gently clean the leaves.
2. Clean the original pot with vinegar, rinse it, dry it.
3. Replant the plant into the original pot, using eco earth as soil.
4. Set outside for 2 or 3 days, watering daily, to make sure the rest of the "yuck" is gone.
5. Plant it in the viv directly into the substrate.
So I went through that whole process, and a few days ago put a live plant in my quarantine tank. Apparently, in step #4, a fruit fly decided to lay eggs in the plant. While I'm not fond of fruit flies IN THE HOUSE, they haven't managed to make it out of the vivarium. There are 3 frogs in there, 2 of them are small yet, and they are having a blast chomping them downAnd here I was about to buy a fruit fly culture to give my little ones an extra snack to hunt at night.
