I don't know what the process normally is for cleaning live plants and putting them in the viv...but this is what I do.
1. Rinse the plant, rinse all the original soil off, gently clean the leaves.
2. Clean the original pot with vinegar, rinse it, dry it.
3. Replant the plant into the original pot, using eco earth as soil.
4. Set outside for 2 or 3 days, watering daily, to make sure the rest of the "yuck" is gone.
5. Plant it in the viv directly into the substrate.
So I went through that whole process, and a few days ago put a live plant in my quarantine tank. Apparently, in step #4, a fruit fly decided to lay eggs in the plant. While I'm not fond of fruit flies IN THE HOUSE, they haven't managed to make it out of the vivarium. There are 3 frogs in there, 2 of them are small yet, and they are having a blast chomping them downAnd here I was about to buy a fruit fly culture to give my little ones an extra snack to hunt at night.

hahaha thats awesome!
They are probably fungus gnats rather than fruit flies, but make a great frog snack either way.
I hate fungus gnats! They infested all my houseplants and it took quite a while for me to clear them up (BTI mosquito dunks work safely, if slowly). Glad the froggies like them though!
So far, they haven't made it out of the tank, so I'm okay with them, and like I said, the frogs are happy!!! I actually have most of my screen covered with glad press and seal too, so any that get near the top of the tank get stuck on that!

Glad to hear your frogs are happy!![]()
I can't get my frogs to eat flies, unless they do it when I'm not looking. I think they are uninterested because I give them crickets that are on the large side, and they are used to that.
Be careful when putting your plants outside, put them up on something like a table... because snails will also lay eggs or whatever they do in your plants, and they tend to take over once they start hatching and it's pretty hard to get them all out of your tank... I missed one when cleaning them out of my tank... and luckily the frog that ate it passed it.![]()
