Recently bought my red eye at a pet store in Asheville, and things seem to go smoothly surprisingly. I'm pretty sure it's a female, and she has been very shy and stressed for the first couple of days, but after wrapping the tank in paper towel she seems a bit more lively. The tank I use is 18x18x24, with a water filter, a few live plants, an algae eater, and moss and coconut substrate. the lighting i use is a dayglo 25w from 8am to 8pm, then a moonlight 25w from 8pm til before i fall asleep, roughly around 1 or 2.
I only have a couple no-brainer questions, just to make sure everything is perfect:
When she ate a rather large cricket last night, she seems a little fatter, now you can see the blue on her sides where you couldn't before. and she looked up at me last night for the first time, though her eyes weren't bright red, they were rather dark, not cloudy but just dark and red.
i just wanted to make sure this sounds normal, so any advice would be greatthank you
totally normal to look fatter lol
and their eyes are like when our pupils dilate at night time to let in more light, only theirs can can even bigger allowing even more light in and allowing them to have great nighttime eyesight
