I posted this last week but thought I'd try again, just in case!
Does anyone know the correct viv temp to correctly hibernate/cool a Whites Tree Frog? (known here as the Australian Green Tree Frog)
Tank's set at about 21 degrees celsius - about 69 fahrenheit (recommended by the amphibian lady at the pet store..) Couldn't really find any other definitive guidelines online/elsewhere and was nervous about making it too cold.
So my frog hasn't eaten for 3 weeks (too cold to digest) and is very dormant, but he's already lost condition within those 3 weeks. And winter's here for another 2+ months! He's still a healthy condition as he started out chubby, but I'm beginning to think this hibernating gamble is going to be too big a risk. I wanted to at least attempt to mimic nature for him, although I'm not so convinced now I'm really benefiting him, if he's slowly starving!
Should I just give up on 'hibernating' him and put the heat back up to a normal temp? Does anyone with experience cooling frogs have any advice?
