    Default Howdy!!

Alright I am long time Herp keeper, with over 30 years experience now and while I have keep Gators, monitors, Turtles, you name it I have never kept any form of Amphibian before and I have been looking into getting a Fantasy frog as my first. and to that end I have just a few short questions. I have a dedicated Herp room where I maintain temps at 85 degrees during the day and 77 at night and humidity at 70%, would I need to still maintain provide a outside heat source or is my ambient tempos sufficient? Same question with Humidity, outside providing a water dish would I need to mist if humidity is consistent at 70 percent?

And most importantly, where do you guys suggest going for a quality Animal and do any have compelling arguments pointing me towards an ornate, albino, etc?

If your humidity is at 70%, you shouldn't HAVE to mist, but if their skin seems dry, it doesn't hurt. I personally love the ornates, I've seen some really pretty albinos too though. As for where to go, someone else will have to help you there! I just have tree frogs and I didn't buy them
2.0.3 Hyla versicolor "Eastern Gray Tree Frogs"
2.2.0 Agalychnis callidryas "Red Eyed Tree Frogs"

0.0.3 Dendrobates auratus "Turquoise and Bronze"
    0.0.1 Anaxyrus fowleri "Fowler's Toad"

The temps and humidity sounds about right. As for species of frogs, cranwellis tend to turn brown as they mature, so if you want a colorful frog, get an ornata maybe? If you like the horns, maybe a cornuta would be nice. I just bought my baby cranwelli at petco, but I think Jeff Kennedy's site has some nice looking frogs.

Actually looked at that site last night and really think I will go there, my Petsmart has a Green Pacman Frog and what they cliam is a Albino that looks brown to me. One the plus side, their $1 per Gal tank sale starts this weekend, so I'll get a nice tank for him.

Glad you decided to get a frog! If you're getting it from petsmart, just be aware that if it is a baby, the green one may be a cranwelli, even if they are selling it as an ornate.

DARN, why couldn't they have that dollar a gallon sale going on a few weeks ago when I was looking to upsize one of my snake's cages!

You should post pics when you get your new frog home

Any major differences between the cranwelli and Ornates, from Research it seems the Ornates get bigger and I want a big one lol
