    Default Retained shed?

I think one of the new frogs has retained shed. All 3 of them had really dry skin when I picked them up. When I put them in their enclosure I misted them all right away to help and I sprayed again this morning to try to get the humidity up. Tonight I checked on them, and 2 looked a million times better, the 3rd one though, looks like it's skin is unusually tight and just "off" looking. I tried to get it out so I could take a pic but it freaked out and hid so I'm leaving it for a bit.

What do I do for retained shed? Just keep misting? Should I take it out to soak for a bit?

I am bumping this up because I do still think this frog is having trouble with shed. It also seems a bit overweight (from the previous owner) so I'm wondering if that's why the skin looks funny to me. I will try to get a pic tonight but this frog is the only one of the four that is terrified of me!

Pics would definitely help. Retained shed is not really a problem with amphibians unless chytrid infection is involved.

Definitely doesnt look infected...I remember with iguanas, retained shed can = dead body parts! So I was hoping that wasnt the case with the frog. I will try to get pics when I get home tonight, generally it doesnt let me catch him/her and would never stay still on me or anything long enough for me to snap a pic, but I'll try.

Try soaking them in that pedialyte mixture? That might help re-hydrate.

Maybe, I will take some pics tonight so you can see, I might just be overreacting because it's not exactly the same as the others LOL

I am under the opinion that its almost always better to overract than to underreact.

That's what I was thinking...better to be overly cautious before a little problem turns into a big one.

ETA: I was the one to call the dr over every little thing when my kids were babies if google didn't provide a clear answer...oh wait, I still do that LOL

I don't have kids, but I do tend to call the vet every time one of my animals coughs "too hard", or something equally minor.

I have no idea. But I have many, many animals. I have photos of several on my profile, if you're bored.

I took some pics, this was nearly impossible, this frog hates me I think! Turned into a fiasco when it took a flying leap towards the wall while I was trying to snap a side pic. It's practically impossible to tell what I'm talking about from these though, not even sure if it's worth it, but here we go.

Near the rear and the sides/leg area, the skin gets tighter and smoother, not the normal bumpiness like my other frogs.

And then I snapped this pic, because I thought the frog was overweight, but could it potentially be bloated? It was fed b. dubia roaches before I got it, I've been feeding it crickets, I know for sure it ate 2 small crickets last night because I separated it from the other 3 when I fed it.

I can't tell from the photo. I would try the pedialyte soak a couple of times, because it certainly won't hurt her. Just don't stand too close to a wall!

Toadstool took a flying leap into the sink yesterday when I was measuring her new water bowl. Some frogs are just psychos.

I think this one IS just a psycho!! All the other frogs are so chill and comfy with me, this one just flips out anytime I walk near the tank. I think that when my new viv is done, I'll put this one in the 10 gal alone in my bedroom where it is quiet, and the other 3 will be in the 35 gal in the living room where there is noise and activity!

Lmao! I'm glad I could help! I'll keep an eye out for a little trash can, and if you can't find one and I can, I'm happy to mail it.
