    Default D3 or no?

I'm looking to get a calcium supplement for my albino Pacman. I just got a really good coupon for this website and they have a small reptile section. They sell
Zoo Med Labs Repti Calcium -- 12 oz

for a very good price and was going to get it but it is the kind with no added D-3. I have heard mixed things about D-3. Is it necessary for a Pacman? I read that Albinos are diurnal and that mostly nocturnal herps need D-3. I use a 40w red bulb on him daily if that makes a difference.
Also, I feed my crickets (as of now till I get dubias) the same food I give my crested gecko and it has a bit if D3 in it, then the crickets get fed to the frog.

So should I get this calcium or opt for one with D-3?

I think you use D3 for frogs, and without D3 for lizards. I could be wrong though, but I'm pretty sure I'm correct.

Interesting, I'd like to know if that's true... Can anyone confirm this?

I did oversimplify it btw. You do use D3 for some lizards occasionally, but not often.

I have allways use the stuff with D3 for all my reptile and amphibians. I have no clue what you would use the stuff without D3 for. I think the D3 is needed to help matabolize the calcium or something along those lines.

That's what D3 is used for. But D3 is toxic to some lizards, so they can only have very small amounts. Leopard geckos, for example.

Well I would be using it for my Crested gecko as well. His food has D3 in it and calcium though.

For my chameleons and frogs I limited there use of calcium of D3 to twice a month. D3 is used for reptiles and amphibians which are raised under UVB/UVA bulbs. Im not sure but i think for more nocturnal phibs, its not completely necessary for use. For all my older animals I maintain a supplementation schedule of cal w/d3 twice a month , multivitamin twice a month and for regular calcium either three times or twice a week (frogs may not require as much calcium as reptiles)

    Hope this helps
