In my newly set up tank I put a 1/4" inch layer of gravel as my false bottom because i've set up tanks without a false bottom before but I had a screen top and misted way to much, resulting in anaerobic bacteria build up and rot. The tank has been set up for about a week and I lightly mist once a day (My humidity is 90-99% all day/night) so not much water goes in. I hand mist for about 10 seconds once a day. The substrate is barely moist (very dry near the bottom, but at the gravel there's a bit of condensation...) and was wondering in the long term (4 months - a few years) how things would turn out. My substrate is 2 parts tree fern fiber, 1 part peat moss, and 1 part charcoal (regular wood charcoal in 1/4" to 1/16" size) so it drains pretty well. Like I said the substrate is just a bit moist (if you stick your hand in a freshly opened bag of soil, it's about 3/4 that moist) and I don't want to uproot the establishing plants and interrupt any microfauna so i'd rather not add one but I was wondering if you think in the long term it would be an issue.
That will be a major pain for you, long term. My false bottoms/drainage layer is always a minimum of 1.5 inches (4 cm). Redo the drainage and substrate layers - you won't regret it.
