    Default Barbara's Tadpoles :)

Hi all, as some of you have seen in another thread, my mother in law's frogs laid eggs a few days ago...we weren't planning on raising those eggs so we wiped away what we thought was all the eggs....I went by her house today to do her water change and low and behold - she has clingers!

32-40 in all...couldn't get an accurate count because they wouldn't stay still.

We sat for two hours catching them one by one with a turkey baster. My mother in law only has the one tank with the adults, so I took them home and have them in one of the tanks I had just set up for my breedings next week.

Funny how things work out, huh?

This batch of tadpoles had a natural/pied/marbled father and a reticulated albino mother. There are some dark tadpoles but mostly white tadpoles with black eyes - these will be either reticulated albinos (most likely) or leucistic albinos (less likely but possible).

So....now I will be only doing one mating of my own for the time being while I raise this batch for Barbara (mom in law)

here are their day one photo from yesterday:

And here are their day two photos from today - they are so small you can barely make them out in the tank!

Very nice froglets! I would love to have more, but I have space limitations at home. Jen, I really love your dedication to the species

Thanks Terry! I have even set up my own web page now - am currently trying to update it with more care guides - only Covering X.laevis and Hymenochirus at this point but want to do in depth care guides for borealis and tropicails soon also.

Hopefully with moving into our new house I can expand my tanks a bit, set up pairs to live together so breeding can just happen naturally and with out being coaxed!

From the original 32-34 tadpoles rescued from my mother-in-laws tank, 10 have finished morphing with 11 tadpoles remaining in different stages of tadpole development.

Your web page is really cool! There is a lot of good info there. Check out my wiki at Home - African Clawed Frog Wiki and my Gopher at Xenopus in Gopherspace Web Portal.

Various stages of morphing - -
one is nearly a froglet, the others are between morphing back legs and morphing front legs (back legs morph first)

Very nice, I wish my frogs would breed, now I got enough time to take care of some tadpoles.
