Not really sure what's happening with my dumpy tree frog. He does seem to shed a lot, and I do catch a lot of floaty "gunk" in his water every so often, but it's really weird right now. There are these white "strings" of stuff coming out of his mouth and he's actually PULLING it out with his feet. A few minutes of this later, his mouth will open wide and he'll "heave" (almost as if he's downing a huge cricket or something) and his whole body will quiver, and he'll get more and more of this white stringy substance out of his mouth. It's never ending :/
There's dried up little pieces of this stringy substance on some of the branches that extend right out in front of his water dish, the branches he uses to get in and out. Should I be worried or be watching for anything?
His behavior appears normal, aside from his choice of where to sleep during the day - out on a big log, protected by nothing and shaded by nothing. He has always changed sleeping spots every 4-6 weeks and stays there for a bit so I've figured this is just his new spot and it's nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe it really is nothing, I mean, he does soak in his water almost every night and eats readily from tongs.
Again though, is this anything to be worried about? Does anyone have any idea what's happening? I'm still new to owning frogs (I got this one last December).
normal, all normal
oh oh yeah that's normal they coat themselves in it to protect them and it keeps them moist.
Do all frogs do this? Or just dumpy's?
