So I've had my pacman for a couple months now. I've finally got a pretty good setup for him; I got rid of the reptibark and replaced it with coco-husk. He's a little bit over 2in long and is about 6 months old (as far as I know). He's still not eating much though. I put a couple crickets in the tank and it takes him days to eat them and I've never actually seen him eat them but they are disappearing and so I'm guessing that means they were eaten lol. Hopefully this is normal.

Someone please correct me if i am wrong, but I think those coco-husks, is consumed, can cause compaction. I use eco-earth since thats one of the only substrates that i know of that does not cause this...
I would highly consider changing it...
Also, dont leave the crickets in the cage for that long, as they can inflict bites on the frog if uneaten. My pacman was hesitant about eating too, until i tried tong feeding and he loves that. That might be something you would wanna try!
get rid of that and get eco earth with some topsoil and some playsnd it works nice for the pacman frogs
Ive never heard of playsand, but if you do topsoil be sure that it is 100% fertilizer/chemical free, or it could severely harm your frog
eco earth is made from coconut fiber.
It's not a pelleted barky type coconut fiber like you have pictured though. It's more soft-soil like. That way they cant eat "chunks" of it by accident and get it stuck in their bellies!
I don't have a pacman, but don't they like to burrow? That chunky stuff doesn't look comfy for burrowing in...correct me if I'm wrong though, I haven't personally done research on pacmans
Yea they do burrow. All he does is stay burrowed lol. I'm a little frustrated because I was advised by several people to buy the coco-husk substrate. It comes in a condensed brick like eco-earth and I followed all the directions expecting all the chunks to break up like the directions say but they didn't. I thought it was going to be more fibrous.
You need to change to eco earth I think my first ever. Pac died .because yo frog could died of impaction I like to use spangum moss on the side of the waterdish
Sphagnum moss can impact them as well.
