I want to start breeding my own dubias. Iv looked online and found lots of care info. What have not found is how many should I get in my 1st colony to start a breeding program? Is 300 a good number? or is less ok.. or... Thanks guys, very greatful for any help![]()
What I've heard and read that 10 is more than enough, as long as most (but not all of them) are females. But it depends if you just want to start breeding, or if you want to be able to feed with dubias as they breed. If that's the case, you will obviously need more.
I know you have probably heard me say this, but talk to Jeff Kennedy. He is a great dubia breeder and his main colony is 2500+ adult dubias (last I heard). He can give you tons of information, and then he can give you tons of dubia roaches!
He also has a video series on the topic (3 parts). His channel is JelasPyxieProject.
