Default Keeping Spring Peeper tads alive

I have Pseudacris crucifer tadpoles collected tadpoles from Michigan wetlands three times this this spring, and every time they died withing 12 hours. I understand that they are sensitive to temperature changes, but this most recent time (Saturday the 28th) they did not undergo any big temp changes. I keep them in containers like soft margarine tubs, etc, in water from the wetland from which they were collected. This last time they were extremely small tads, so I do not think oxygen was depleted.

    Any idea what's killing them?

How long did they last? Chances the water could have fouled. Amonia and other toxic chemicals could've built up in such a small container. Try a larger enclosure and so gentle filtration.

Just a few hours. I've kept wood frog, gray treefrog, and northern leopard frog tads in similar containers (with far more biomass of tadpoles), and they all did quite well.

Ok then its a mystery to me, but I still lean towards a water chemistry problem.

Well, I put the latest collection in large, blue bucket, and they are doing fine. Perhaps the lunch meat containers leached something in the water that this bucket does not; perhaps it has to do with the volume of the water; perhaps they like the darker conditions and are less stressed.
