Ok! so I FINALLY got a pic of his/her throat! (took me long enough... thin one's definitely a hopper!)
sorry the pics are blurry... phone pics are not easy when dealing with a jumpy pacman frog...
Pretty sure its a male. A couple little croakes at 1 to 4am should confirm it.![]()
I was thinking the same, but i havent heard anything so far... so i'm keeping my ears open :P
Actually looks more female, The whole thing abt "males having a darker throat" is a wives tale. It truely is. Every horned frog iv every owned or been around that "croaked or called" had very blurry unclear markings on his throat. And I owned 3 sure fire females. They were almost 7 inches accross and they never made a sound. 2 of them had markings exactly like the ones on your frogs throat. Very clear clean sharp markings. And the other one had blurry male looking throat. But the markings covered almost her entire throat. So thats my guess. Its all a guess untill that lil F'er (frogger lol) makes calls. haha.
well then i'll have to keep you all posted and hopefully i'll hear it if it does call. I dont even think its old enough yet if it is a male, only about 3 months old. When i got him/her, it looked like he/she still had a tail nub...
How old are the males generally when they start calling? I had originally thought mine was a male, but it's growing large very quickly and has never made a sound, so now I have no idea.
Once they get a year or 6 to 8 months they will start to croak I have a baby brown pac like one that bruce has same marking my 5in female ornate has marking like that but my male albino has light brown and a deep throat but the nuptial pad thing works better for me
