I was just woken up with bright lights, cursing, and the sound of frog tanks being yanked open. When i could see, I saw my 88yr old grandmother with a freaking stake knife stabbing into the tanks. I jumped up and started yelling at my crazed elder to stop. Then she just acted like she did nothing wrong. Its not like she's starting to slip, cuz she's always been like this sense my grandfather met her. This was my breaking point. I told her if she did anything like this again she'd be in a nursing home. Of course she had to cry and say that I had come into her room and woke her up yelling at her and that i had the knife. Then idk how, but the story ended up with "You were an awful little child and i should have done away with you when you were small!"
Thankfully, none of my frogs were harmed, but one tank is cracked. She will pay for the tank before she leaves, because I don't have the money for another split 40breeder. She has also made a few complaints about my dogs being in the back yard. Any way, does anyone have any helpful advice? I can't lock the door cuz she knows how to use a credit card to get in.
I'm sorryed what happended are they in your room or in a herp where you keep all extoics pets if they are you should try to put a combination lock on it
Get the police involved. Period. To me, that reads like someone who could easily harm a person, and indicates to the possibility of dementia or senility setting in.
Holy...Dude thats crazy, I would involve the non emergncy police (311) Or if theres an animal abuse plcae you can call
Nursing home. That sounds like dementia.
Wow. That had to be one heck of a night...
We've had similar problems (well... not similar to that incident, but issues with normally 'with it' older family members suddenly going bonkers and doing illegal/dangerous things). If there's no other family member for her to stay with and she's trying to break into your house and other things like that, then you can try to get Right of Attorney. Then you could get her into a long-term care facility and avoid involving the police if you don't want to.
Glad none of your frogs were harmed!
I would have her removed from the house. She has already said she should have done away with you when you were young. What if she tries to rectify that situation? You can't leave, because she'll take out your pets. You need to get her help. My grandma's going through the same thing. She is angry half the time and weepy the other half.
I guess every household had their stories.I'm not on any side just reading your story here. All i could say is try to get along with your grandma. If their's some reason your grandma act so crazy, find her some help.Love your family member while they still here.Think about your family always be first. That just my personally opinion to you.Hoping your and your grandma could find a way to get along with each other.
Thanks for the support and all but she is moved back to her place now and can suddenly take care of herself again. I was sure to see that she actually could take care of herself before leaving her though. I think she was just lonely because she has turned all her neighbors against her and has nobody left to ridicule and bestow hate toward.
My frogs have yet to emerge sense the incident, but they should get hungry soon.
Glad to heard everythings working out fine.
Glad to hear things are working out.. Smart frogs!
wow! very lucky frogs! I was gunna say maybe theres a way to put a lock on the lids, but that doesnt seem to necessary now...
They, came back out to see me last night, and were happy to eat a mouse each!
That was a very scary situation.
