I am planning to get a African Bullfrog, maybe 2, when the summer times comes.
My Questions
For 2 African bullfrogs to be in the same enclosure, should they be male and female?
Around how many gallons should the rubber maid container be for 2 Adult African bullfrogs or 1 Adult?
Do I need to modify the top of the rubber maid container with wire mesh?
Can I feed them Nightcrawlers with supplements as a staple?
Should I use a Heat Lamp? Would a 50 watt bulb be too much? Should I also get a heat mat? What size should the heat mat be? Should it be on the side of the container of top?
I keep mine in clear plastic 1 gallon containers as tiny babies, then move them to a 10 gal tank. Then into 40-50 gal tanks as adults. Always w a top and small vent holes to keep things moist. I put them off set on a heat pad so they can get cool. Tamp paper towels or coco fiber bedding from any pet store nice and damp. I would not recommend keeping any togethere esp. as babies! Don't ever feed night crawlers that are sold as bait also. They often times have nitrogen or acid all over them and that will kill your frog. Hope you can find a true giant also. They are getting hard to come by. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the help.
I decided to go with this setup, just wanna know if its okay.
10 gallon long tank - When should I switch to 20 gallon long?
Heat bulb on the side with water - increases humidity
Rectagular Chinese Takeout container for water
Cocunut Fiber 6cm of it
Feeding Nightcrawlers (feeder ones for reptiles, Can anyone reccomend me a good online dealer?) with calcium powder
Covering one side of tank (the side with land) with a plastic bag to increase humidity
Spraying substrate time to time when it looks little dry
Best deal I have found for nightcrawlers is 250 for 27.50 and 500 for 42.50 these prices are shipped too. I have to check the site rules about linking to other websites. If you like those prices I can PM you the site. These are 6-8 inch African nightcrawlers. I have these worms now and they are really easy to keep and breed.
They say not to keep 2 together but i have 2 that are the same size. Also coming up on a year of age and a year of living together and have done fine. Although if yours try to eat each other i take no blameAlthough i believe one of of mine is a male so once it seems to get bigger then the other i will separate them
I had to separate mine after like 6 months the male was just too aggressive when eating.
I have four frogs in a 50 gallon and they are doing fine, but as babies i had them separated just because they seem to be more aggressive to one another while they're babies
