Help identifying bull frog (?)

I would be very grateful if anyone can help on identifying what may be a type of bullfrog. My mother lives in northern Alabama. At the bottom of her yard is a marshy area. Every day for several weeks she has seen something with the following characteristics: looks like a bull frog as it is very large with no neck; bright green head; brown body approximately 5 inches; short legs. Here is the kicker: approximately 4 inch tail. ANY help would be highly appreciated as she is rather afraid of it and must pass it to get her mail; she is 73 and could not run if it jumped near her which is her fear. Thank you.
