Just getting started

Looks like it will be a Fire Bellied Tank. Has anyone ever had anything else with the Fire Bellies? Like salamanders, newts, anoles or fish. I was thinking about some fish, in the water feature. Wouldn't really matter if the toads ate them, was just kinda wondering if you thought it would be okay. Thanks for all the replies coming in. I really want to get this going, but I want to make sure that the setup is ready. I take care of my nieces(8 & 10) and would like them and me to get a lot of enjoyment out of this. Not a lot of deaths because, I forgot something.

I belive they are toxic to other frogs and maybe other animals but you can put alot of fire bellies in there nice little frog and colorful and love to eat ,I think they only live for 4 years.you can also put 2 american bullfrogs in there but they will destroy the tank lol.

They are toxic to other frogs and animals, except for fire-bellied newts. It's not recommended to mix them because the toads can injure the newts by trampling them or nipping at them. I have however mixed them successfully. You will just need to make sure you don't get your newts too small or the toads will try to eat them, the newts should be full grown. If you're going to put fish in the water go for small minnows like rosy reds. Its not recommended for fire-bellied toads to eat fish a lot, but they can, and they will if the fish are small enough (My FBTs TRY to eat anything that moves even if it is too big). Don't use goldfish because they carry a lot of bacteria. Just remember that fire-bellied toads and newts can climb glass. They are escape artists as well. Make sure there are no gaps in your tank cover because they can squeeze out. I've been keeping FBTs for over 7 years but please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this y'all.

Oh and BTW I am not telling you to mix species. I'm just simply saying I have done it, and it can be done CAREFULLY, but I do NOT recommend it.
