Default They're here!!! - Atelopus hoogmoedi

    Hi guys,

So it was a long trip. A 3-hour trip to Quebec City (6 hours if you count the going and coming back). Luckily, work paid the hotel last night as I was giving a conference over there.

The first 3 pictures is what we think might be a female. It has speckles on the belly, and is wider and bigger from the waist, as if she was gravid. It's to be confirmed.

On the two following ones, a male. And so are the two last ones. Interestingly enough, when I handled the last one (we took the pictures while we transferred the toads from the carrying case to the tank), the belly started having pink/purple pigmentation.

    And there you go!

Thank you, Ebony. You do know from my Facebook page how excited I am.
Kisa: Thanks for the vote of confidence. These frogs are hardy once the settle in , but it's the settling part that will be a challenge.
Mike: You are right... I never thought about it... They are pretty black...

Congratulations! Atelopus spumarius barbatoni have purple/pink bellies. Also, I thought A. s. hoogmoedi had yellow markings. Of course their markings might appear to be white due to stress.
