    Default New Everything

After discovering mold in my waterfall (yikes) and looking at the failure that my snails caused, I've decided to revamp my tank, right now I've got it divided off 2/3rd water and 1/3rd land.. and not very high out of the water, and i was thinking of making the height of the water higher but wasn't sure if the toads like that or not? also I'm looking for ideas of what i can do with what i have?.. this weekend I'm going to clean the **** out of everything i have so my froggies don't get sick

Also i just realized how much i post in these forums... sorry!

You're posting in the right place. I have my water about three inches deep, but I put rocks in there so they can stop and rest.

I keep my water about four inches deep in my FBT tank. They also have lots of aquatic plants and islands on which the can rest. You will see them once in awhile completely submerged when they run after one another. It's great fun to watch.

    I hope mine doesn't mold D:
I used to keep mine just below four inches, but the new filter requires it pretty deep. you shouldn't go above five and that's really pushing it. >< they're not incredibly strong swimmers keep in mind.
darn snails laying down on the job XD
What I do is make one really small deep area, which is about four and a half now. and then I've placed rocks and stones and plants around to provide some different levels from there. kindof like hills. ^-^ make sure there's something easy for them to climb up on to right in the deepest part or right beside just in case, and check small spaces where they might fall and get caught in high water ( like back corners etc. ) and provide them with some different levels maybe, like out of the water, just barely in it, just a little more in it, half way, just where their head is poking out, etc. kindof wading pools lol, and some sections where they can swim if they like, since I have one who loves swimming ^-^ it's also easier if you mark the inches on the glass really neatly and out of the way, for setting up the tank. then I can build all the hills and kneel down at the inch marks to see where the water level will be and how much each area will stick out of it, so I can ajust it without having to add in the water till I'm done. ^-^
if you can make sure it's sturdy and you have one that likes to swim, it's kindof fun to add a rock arch. every now and then they'll swim under water and under it which is really fun to see : D

So is the bottom of a FBT tank just the glass bottom or is it similar to a planted freshwater tank with stone and sand?

I would love to see a build from start to finish to see how you create an island and the different plants someone would select for the water.
    That would be cool

1.1.1 Bumblebee Dart Frog - Dendrobates leucomelas
1.1.0 Dendrobates truncatus - Yellow Striped

well i finally got around to re-doing my tank about a week ago.. had the frogs in a separate holding area.. anyways i re did the whole thing and have some pictures of it.. but today i lost one of my frogs and not sure exactly what happened.. got home from school and it (I'm still unsure of all their sexes) was upside down in the water and very very bloated so my guess is over eating.. but anyways here are some pics
