    Sup everybody!

New to the forum here, and just thought id stop by and say whats up.

I have been a big fan of amphibians and reptiles my whole life and used to have 2 red eyed green tree frogs.

I want to start back up again, but this time create a sustainable habitat with live plants, insects, reptiles and ambhibians.

If anyone knows of a good thread with any info on how to create a sustainable terrarium, or any cool ideas of how one could be set up i would appreciate it.

Also, if anyone know of any good combination of reptiles/amphibians, i am welcome to hear it. I was thinking of having some green anoles, maybe a green garden snake, and a few tree frogs. Maybe throw in a chameleon.. Im still brainstorming right now and need to do more research on if they can actually coexist in the same habitat, so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I also plan on starting with a 75 gallon tank, how much light wattage do yall think would be necessary to keep the habitat warm. Should i use a heat pad or anything like that?

Anyways, if anyone has any input or could link a thread, i would really appreciate it.

Thanks guys! Ill keep yall posted on how my habitat is going!

    G0m3z,

Welcome to the Forum! Good to have you here.

You have come to the perfect place to find out about amphibians and how to house them properly. There are alot of experts here, and many will tell you it is not a good idea to mix different frog species because of toxins they secrete, and other reptiles because they may harm or even eat your frogs.

Check out the Topic on Vivarium, Terrarium & Enclosure Discussion, there are many informative posts and this will help you decide also which type of frog you would like to keep. If you have any specific questions you can start a thread under the Topic it relates to.
    Enjoy the site!

    Welcome aboard.

I would scratch the idea of a chameleon with the other mentioned animals. Chameleons have much different requiremnets than that of other lizards and frogs. Besides they are not a native of the southeastern US, like the other three are and would infect the chameleon with the pathogens of that part of the world.
Mixing amphibian species is never a good idea for various reasons. Mixing them with reptiles could have dire consequences if you're not careful. Green treefrogs, Hyla cinerea and green anoles, Anolis carolinensis would be ok provided there was enough room and plenty of visiual barriers. My concern with mixing a rough green snakes, Opheodrys aestivus is that there are a lot of snakes that are predators of both lizards and snakes. Even though O. aestivus is an insectivore, I believe its presence in the enclosure would provide undue stress to any frog or lizard.
