    They are all wild caught - you are correct. I've seen and photographed this species in the wild. They live in semi-arid or arid areas, breeding in temporary pools after spring and summer rains. I would try to keep them off small gravel like in the photo because you want to lessen the risk of them ingesting some when eating and becoming impacted.

    We found him on the sidewalk in the neighborhood. I just kinda grabbed what we found him in and put him in that.
    He's got that gravel and dirt and some big rocks to hide and climb in his enclosure.
    Would sand be better? or just bigger rocks?

    One or both would be better, or just just coconut fibre like most of us use.
