I posted a few weeks ago about my 2 white's not eating. It's been about a month for the one and 2 weeks for the other. Thier humidity is about 56% and temperature is about 76. They have eco earth for substrate, frog moss, a soaking dish, and some fake branches and vines. My white's are about 2 inches long now. The one still looks alright weight wise, he moves around and his color varies from green to a brownish green mix, he also soaks and doesn't bury himself much, I did notice today that his one eye is cloudy though. The other frog on the other hand looks pretty skinny. He is always brown and always burying himself deep into the sunstrate and just lays around flat when I get him out and does not move much. His eyes are pretty dull looking.I think he is on his way out. =(
Im so sorry your frogs are sick..I would suggest to get them both to the Vet asap.
Unfortunately we have no vet around here that knows anything about frogs. The nearest one is 6 hours away. =( We did find out the cloudy eye was due to shed. My husband soaked the one frog and the shed came off. His eye is back to normal now. We removed everything from the tank, except the climbing branches and put in plain white paper towels on the bottom and a soaking dish. We also upped the temperature in the tank to 85 degrees. The more sick one did finally eat as well. We are thinking of soaking them in the pedialite mixture tomorrow to hopefully give them a little boost. What did scare us today was our more sick one appear to have a seizure when we put him into his new habitat after he ate. He spralled out and his hind legs and body just shook. He seems to be fine now and alert. Should we keep the temperature a little higher for now? It seems to have made them a little more active and alert.
I would also up the humidity considerably for the next couple of weeks. If they are having trouble shedding and are burrowing in the substrate that could mean that they are too dry. Frogs can also stop eating if they are simply stressed out. Can you post a picture of their enclosure? Also how long have you had them? How did they look and behave when you brought them home?
Also if you're using any kind of heat lamp for warmth I would get rid of it a replace it with a side mounted heatmat. Heat lamps can dry out the enclosure pretty quick. Please post your location in your user profile so we can give the proper advice. Environmental factored can be a huge factor depending on which part of the country you're from.
