Hi i am planning my first viv build and i am just wondering,,,
i am going to use expanding foam and potted plants for my background and was wondering how do the potted plants drain water if they are embedded in the expanding foam?
i dont want my plants to drown,, its going to be raining quite often in the tank
You can poke drainage holes in the foam after it has cured with a nail. Or you can stick a straw in where you want a hole and foam around it, then snip off the straw when the foam has cured. No drainage and you'll get soggy plants.
This is great, I was going to ask the same thing. I didn't know if the foam had enough air holes to drain, or absorb. Another question about the foam-- will heat cable penetrate the foam? I need the extra heating for WTF. Lights and domes aren't going to cut it. The foam is used for weatherization, so I'd imagine it will block the heat. Can I embed cable into the foam? Will it melt? Will it (cable)break and need replacing?
Sorry for jacking your thread. Just a foam issue. Hope you don't mind.
