    Question Picky Frog

    Hi guys!

Wondering if anyone could help me out?

My Ornate is about 5 months old, plump and generally happy. temps and humidity in his tank have remained the same and he's regularly cleaned out. Problem is that he's getting increasingly picky about what he eats. When I first got him he'd go for everything I put in his tank, now he refuses anything but (dusted and loaded) big adult locusts, refusing his former staple of crickets. Even the odd fluff mouse gets ignored. I'd like to give him a varied diet to make sure he stays healthy but he's making it pretty hard.

Any suggestions? Will he be harmed by only eating locusts if I can't get him to feed on anything else?

I had an issue with my Cranwelli, he only liked crickets. You just need to keep trying. He is old enough you don't need to feed him everyday. I would just hold off feeding a little longer than normal I am sure once hes good and hungry he will eat anything/everything in front of him.

And you are indeed correct its it good to vary the diet.

Try silkworms and hornworms. My pacman went crazy for them and silkworms also have great nutritional content.

I don't know what temp and humidity level that he lives in, but when i raised the temp from 75F to 83.5F and the humidity to 88%, My frogs became much more active. They're appetite increased tremendously, and there digestion seem to be working better. They also enjoy 12 hours of light per day in the room where they stay. ceiling lights, not heat lights. or open blinds if possible

Hi there, thanks for the help!

Frog is eating very well now, rivalling my Budgett's with his feeding response, goes for everything I put in his tank.

The humidity is usually in the 80s, but when nartural light comes in he tends to hop to a more shady part of his tank!
