The size would indicate even more that it is an American Green Tree Frog.

If he is burrowing, it could be because it is looking for humidity. Do you also have a bowl of water so it can hydrate?

As for the humidity, keep it constant around 75%. A bit above and below will not hurt at all. Temperature: Between 68 and 77. They are really easy toc are for. But make sure it has lots of room to climb up!!!

    Thanks Eric!

He's good on humidity and does have a bowl of water, lots of places to climb and such. Just had him in a temp place at the time I took the pics.

Ok here is another question since you mentioned humidity cause now I'm second guessing what the hygrometer says. Is is better to place the thermometer/hygrometer at the top, middle, or bottom of the tank?

Hyla cinerea is my vote too (I have an album for mine if you wan more comparison).

The burrowing could be humidity as mentioned, could also be fear of his new surroundings so time will be needed to settle in. Check out the care article http://www.frogforum.net/tree-frog-c...ysoscelis.html different frog but similar requirements (your frog isn't freeze tolerant). A home for him is 10 gallons minimum, more is always appreciated (mine lives in this for now, but will get a larger tank as he grows). Height is more important than width as they enjoy climbing. Lots of climbing and hiding spots. Avoid handling him if possible, they are look but don't touch pets.

Are you planning to keep him long term?

Hey Brian, thanks for the info. Yes I'm planning to keep him, I realize he's wild but since he's not native to my state releasing is NOT an option. I have him in a 10 gal vertical right now. Planning to go bigger and he gets bigger. I think you are completely right about the burrowing due to fear of his new surroundings because he's no longer burrowing. He sleep where I can see him during the day (although he has tons of places to hide and sleep) at night he's completely out and about exploring his new home.

I have three in a 12 x 12 x 16 tank, with a ponytail palm planted in it. I also suctioned a fake vine to the side of the tank, and I have a cork bark background, and a small water bowl. They seem to be very happy in their tank, and they love the palm. They occasionally swing from the leaves like Tarzan, and they enjoy sitting on the trunk. I spray the tank about once or twice a day, and keep it at room temperature. I use a lamp on top, but its just a regular light bulb to make sure the palm is getting enough light.
