So my male pixie is about 7inches long, and about a little over a year old now. How long do they continue growing for? Is there a certain age when you know that they are done growing?
Thanks in advance.
I don't think your frog will grow much more than that if at all. 7 inches is a good size though not the biggest, not the smallest.
heres the only pic of him I have handy.. doesn't really show his size buts its a cool one.
And I guess i'll have to wait and see if he gets any bigger.
Sweet lookin male pyxie!
i supose this has something to do with were the frogs originate from, as they say northern adsperus will not get as big as the ones from south africa, you normally find the colder the climate the larger the anmal, interesting stuff but alot of the captive bred adsperus are not getting over the 8 in mark were there is a lot of the wild caught adsperus over here <must be south african> are 9 in and more huge frogs, going to do a bit more home work on this one,
nice looking frog you have there by the way,
cheers spencer..........
From what I have come to understand, most growth will occur in the first 2-3 years.
Meatball, sound like your male may be closer to 2 years old.
And, I believe they will grow all their lives, just much slower after the first 2-5 years. They have seen some very large specimens in the wild and in long term captives at zoos.
It's possible, It seems lately though in the more recent batches of babies produced, not many adults are hitting the 8 inch mark.
No not small at all.
