    Default Sounds like a dolphin...

So long story short, Haiku is male and croaking. Weirdest thing, he sounds like a dolphin. I even played dolphin sounds and he called back to them LOL!!! I listened to a RETF croak online and it's in a way similar, but his sound just seems to be unique to him. Does anyone else's red eye or other frog, have a really odd croak?

I don't have a retf, but ive noticed opals croak has changed allot. When he was 1 inch to his 2 inches now. It was really sqweeky before, now he's getting more bass and volume.

I can't imagine how loud he'll be at(3-4) double the size he is now.

    Hmmm
I'd like to record Haiku, but he just randomly croaks once and then doesn't for however long after. It's hard to figure out when he's going to talk. I just find it so odd, every time I hear it I'm like.. that is a dolphin! lol!

Yep he croaks in the day too. Sometimes we walk in and he greets us or something lol. I figured he'd sleep all day, but he always seems to wake up in the day, unlike Orchid.

mine just started croaking. He is mounting my other red eye..Maybe they will breed. I thought I had to have a rain chamber for this? These Frogs were getting it on last night.

I just recently recorded one of my little guys croaking, he's only an inch long and sounds like a full grown labrador retriever! XD Go take a look, I posted a link to the video in my thread about the blue eyed White's. ^ ^

Glad to hear your little guy is croaking, just be sure it's Haiku and not Orchid, or you may have a predicament on your hands...>>

I know 100% it's Haiku lol. I introduced him to Orchid a couple days ago and that's when he started. "Oooo look, a girl!" lol And the fact I had Orchid for however long before him and she never made a noise. +, if he is a mature male croaking, he is quite a lot smaller than she is.

Ok these two are officially confusing me. They croak in their SLEEP!?!? I hear a croak, I RUN to the tank (like 5 feet away) and see who was awake to make the noise. They're both sleeping. This morning when I walked in the room I heard a croak, I look and Orchid is the only one awake. That got me thinking maybe they're both male or I sexed them wrong. Then a few miniutes after, I hear a croak so I run over and Haiku is the only one awake. They are confusing me!!!

I've had the same exact experience with little Paul Newman. I'll here him croaking, come over to look at him and his eyes will be closed! Maybe they're just so tired that they don't bother to open them?

My Tiger Legs croaked for the first time last night, so loud they woke my rock of a boyfriend up! It was incredible, they went on for at least thirty minutes, just croaking on and on and on. I heard some softer sounds, so I'm pretty sure both the male and female are croaking to each other. So cute! XD Sorry, just thought I'd share. If I can get them on video I'll post a thread, their bark is so strange! You have to hear it for yourself.

Man these frogs sure are strange!

So it's possible for females to croak too? I thought only the males did it. Maybe males call out, female will reply? So I may still have male and female? But yeah it's weird, they croak and don't even always open their eyes lol! The croaking started when Haiku was introduced to Orchid. A couple days later I think. We thought it was our video game for a while but then heard it without any electronics on.

I too would like to get a video. They're just so spontanious and don't continue to croak after the first one lol.

I'm not sure about Red Eyes, but I know my White's and I THINK my Tiger Legged females croak. It's just not as loud and obnoxious as the males. XD
