Impaction? Please advice

I think my PCF Linus may be impacted. She has not produced a good poop in days, and I find slimy blobs with undigested crickets in the tank, which I believe she has regurgitated. She does not look sick and is acting normally, however. I feed her crickets and fruit flies.

I'm gonna try a warm water bath - ca 75 F - is that good? Is there anything else I can do?

Can they recover from impaction, or is she doomed?

I think maybe it happened because last week her normal lamp broke, which produces a nice warm spot under the lid where she likes to bask. It's a CFL in a clamp reflector. For a week she had to content with a strip light from an aquarium, which did not really make a warm basking spot. Yesterday I got the new clamp lamp and now she has her basking spot back. Do you think this may have caused her to become impacted?

the slimey poop, usually an indicator of parisites. Could be undigested as you said. I'm unclear on that part, so I'll see if someone else has more insight.

As far as impaction, just had the same problem, opal ate a ton of moss. She passed a twice than normal size poop--- all moss. I added 2drops of honey per ounce (instead of 1)
And fed her wax worms, which are so fatty, when they fill up on those they get the runs. And did the 75-80 water. Depends on max temp for that species. If she basks in 80 deg-- 80 will do fine. Good luck, maybe a couple days of sun will fix her right up

thanks - I don't actually think the slimy undigested crickets are poop; I suspect she regurgitated them. A few days ago I caught her with her tongue hanging out (see "tongue prolapse" thread) and I now believe that was shortly after she barfed up a cricket.

I will put her in a warm water bath and see what it does. So far, she does not look or act as if she's in any trouble...

oh, ya. I remember now. Just so you know, I doubled the honey figuring sugar gives anyone the runs. LOL. And the waxies helped, fat and food to push off of to make the bowel move. Earthworms are dry, kind of. So I ruled that out. Kisa had a vet tell her to give her impacted frog some caster oil. I think she ended up using mineral oil because of the toxic effects of caster-- scared of overdose. But I beleive she was to just dip a cricket in it. I supose after 2days of honey and waxies I would try that.

I'm happy to report that whatever was going on with Linus has sorted itself out. She's producing big, normal poops and is catching flies with enthusiasm.

Maybe there never was a problem in the first place and Mama just had to go off and worry a bit because, well, that's what Mama does best?

Or maybe Linus was just bored with the ol' crickets and fruit flies she had all winter. Now spring is here, Mama can catch her some big fat yummies out in the yard and Linus definitely gets excited about those.

Glad to hear Linus is doing better. We all worry about nothing at some point.
