So after many clutches of eggs I have finally been successfull in breeding my Dwarf Williams. All the right parameters.I have them in an 18 x 18 x 24 tall Exoterra. I found four eggs open about a week ago but kept seeing only one baby. Then I found him last night OUTSIDE the cage. He wasn't so bad to catch and is securely back in the cage. I had already taped over the back of the cage where the slots are as I have my hygrometer/thermometer through one of those slots, leaving a tiny opening. Since I had an escapee I pulled the tape off. MUCH to my DISMAY - I found two more babies all dried up and dead, stuck to the tape. So they must have gotten through the tiny hole and on the underside of the tape and were trapped.
SO, spent about an hour taping inside and outside, and then just to be sure covering the glass door edges on the front.
The leaf this guy is on is about 2.5 by 2 to give you perspective of his size. 2-3 more eggs yet to hatch, so hopefully this is my last catastrophe. After they hatch I am going to remove all the babies, work inside the cage to seal this area and start over with breeding adults....lesson learned!
Sorry about the babies you lost, but congrats on successfully breeding Williamsi. I have day geckos but Williamsi are definitely on my want list for the future. Awesome.![]()
