    Default Am I right???

Please keep in mind i am in the uk with the chilly weather

Right just want to clear this up now as i might be ordering all the stuff i need for my white tree frogs... I have the exo terra 45x45x60, a hydrometer, mist bottle, bowl and thermometer

I will be ordering as follows.....

A heatmat 17x11 to put on side of glass

    UV tube 5% 15in

    Coco fibre

    Feeding tongs

This lot will be for my online order ...I will be going to shops for plastic plants and some vines. Have i missed anything out and will the heatmat and UV get my temps right as my house is a cold one

Is the UV light safe? Im sure it is... just been doing lots of reading and get different info as in no UV needed and then yes UV and heat lamp so all info will be appreciated before i go ahead later or tomorrow and order the stuff.

    Thank Sue

Summer is rolling around, thank god!! I'm in Wisconsin, and have allot of heating for my frogs also. I have a dome light with a 50 w grow bulb that adds heat to the corner they like. I think that what you have will do for the summer, and this fall you might have to get a dome and additional light. I add a strip themometer to that sleeping area so I can male sure my glass doesn't go above 95. When it's at 91, my ambient tank temp at the other side is usually at 80. It takes me till noon to get it up to 80 all winter. I have a 33 with heatpad on bottom (shouldve done the side) a hood with a 2.0 and the dome.
The done is a good idea too, because at night I have a moon glow bulb for additional heat and my heat pad stays on all night, temps drop to 70. It's quite a job getting it all figured out and then compensating for weather changes. Get your viv stable and running before you bring froggies home.

Thank you for your reply Yes i will be making sure everything is right before i get them just wanted to know this was the right stuff before paying out for it all Think i will order it all today and will start playing about with it all and see what happens with the temps ect...will look into getting a heating bulb for when the winter sets in if it needs it .....Is a 5% UV too much or will this be ok? The room they will be in is quite a dark room.

    Thanks for the help

also, design your viv with a hide near you warm corner. You want this to kind of be covered from the light, as they like to sleep in the shade. I have a bamboo hollow filled with rocks sitting near the warm corner, on top is a fake orchid with large leaves, this is 3 inches from the corner. One frog likes it hot and sleeps right on the glass (91) and the other sleeps on the bamboo probably at 85. I have Picts of my viv, but no real good Picts if that corner hide.

Just keep in mind they need to have a few different temps in the warm corner, and ways to regulate to what they like.

I think a 5 would give you more heat. That's good. And for summer you could just get your temps figured out and set a 5$ timer to shut the light off at noon, or not at all if you have air conditioning.

And use a grow light or normal bulb in winter, no heat bulbs, they'll dry your frog out.

um, I say start with 50, you can always go up later, spot check temp to make sure it doesn't go above 90. Buy the bigger dome that takes more watts, just in case. You will find the snap from 30 to -30 you'll be pulling out human heating pads. Having one of these on hand for crazy weather helps allot. I have my viv in a chilly location, and the back of the viv is all wrapped up in plastic and blankets. Also I have hand warmers for emergency, if the power goes out. You can stock up on these now, they're real cheep right now.
