I'm considering buying a Pacman frog, we have one at my work that we just acquired and hes SO fun! I already have a bearded dragon and a leopard gecko, along with some large tanks and dogs etc so I'm familiarized with the pet world :P!
So here is my questions for y'all!
1) whats the difference with pacman and pixies? and ornates?
2)humidity, temp, etc..whats best?
3)is a 10 gal big enough for a little guy whos no more than 2 inches?
4)cost friendly way to set this fella up?
Thanks y'all!!!!
Hi, welcome to the forum.
1) Pacmans and pyxies are from different genuses. Pacmans are Ceratophrys and Pyxies are Pixiesomething. Ornates are pacmans but they are genetically different from the species you will probably be aquiring which is Ceratophrys Cranwelli. They are similar but Ornates get slightly bigger in my experience (like 0.75 inches or so) and are brighter colored, as they keep their color into and through adulthood.
2) Humidity range should be between 60 and 80ish%, but they are pretty tolerant of humidity ranges as long as it stays moist in their habitat. I've kept Cranwellis from anywhere between 70-85 without any negative consequences.
3) Yes
4) Tupperware container, coconut fiber
Hope this helps
Welcome

To set up my pacman frog's tank cheaply, I used a 10 gallon tank I had available, Eco-Earth, a long skinny rock I found outside he can sit on (he actually seems to enjoy it, weirdly enough), a glass food storage container for a pond (lined with little stones so he can hop out easily), and a bro...er...bromillead? However you spell that plant. He uses the plant as his hide by sitting under the leaves.
