Default Hi. It's Marilyn from NY State

Hi. It's Marilyn from NY State. This is my very first post. I live with my husband of 21 years, our two teenaged sons, two dogs, a Cockatiel and a bunch of amphibians: Three Pyxies, two Cane Toads, a Colorado River Toad, six European Green Toads, four Chubbies, seven Barking Tree Frogs, six Fire Bellies, a Bronze Frog, seven White's Tree Frogs, two Green Tree Frogs, one weird White Lipped Tree Frog (she has pink and bronze mixed in with her greens,) and a Smokey Jungle Mountain Frog.

Almost four years ago, I started out with two Fire Bellies--Moses and Zipporah. I bought them for a science discovery station I set up in order to teach my Sunday school students about Moses and the ten plagues. I hooked up with Carole from Frogdaze to learn how to keep my two new pets alive. She taught me a lot about frogs and toads, except how to resist acquiring more :-)) The rest is history. I guess you might say that I have an addictive personality.
I'm looking forward to doing a lot of listening and learning from y'all; and I might even offer my two cents from time to time. Marilyn

Welcome to the forum Marilyn, it's good to have you here. It sounds like you'd give Kurt a very good run for his money! Which are your favourites? By the way, how did having the fire-bellied toads help teaching about the 10 plagues? (I'm genuinely interested in how you worked the toads in )

Cool a Leptodactylus pentadactylus. Now there is something you don't get to see around here that often. Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever seen any one mention one of these before. A friend of mine had one, but she forgot to give it water and it died.

As far as numbers, we are about even. Just for the record I have 5 fire-bellied toads, 1 Colorado River toad, 1 western green toad, 1 blue poison dart frog, 1 green treefrog, 1 greater hatchet-faced treefrog, 1 Cuban treefrog, 2 clown treefrogs, 2 White's treefrogs, 1 tiger-legged monkey frog, 3 adult red-eyed leaf frogs, 11 red-eyed leaf froglets, 4 red-banded rubber frogs, 2 West African rubber frogs, 5 southern tomato frogs, and 1 blue-webbed flying frog.

    Anyway, welcome aboard.

I don't understand why people only have 1 Colorado River Toad (aka Sonoran Desert Toad).

Because they are generally expensive. Personally I would love to have more.

One of the ten plagues was inundating Egypt with frogs. I also had large crickets to represent the locust that plagued Egypt.

Obviosly, I'm new at this forum stuff. Sorry about putting my introduction in the wrong place. I'm still not sure what I did wrong.

Welcome to the Forum Marilyn. You have quite the collection, and I am always glad to hear of another Pyxie owner-or do they own us?? Whichever, very happy to see you have joined. I hope that you will soon post pictures of your pets, as some I have not seen before. Until next time.....

Hi Jace, This is the very first forum I have joined. I have some cute pics to share will y'all and will do so as soon as I figure out how to do so. (Did I mention that I am very "low-tech?" Any pointers?? I recently figured out to transfer pics from my camera to my computer and then email them to friends. Is that a good start?

I just returned home from the Adirondacks. I was away for one night so I have to catch up on providing the "room service" they didn't get this morning. I brought back some tasty looking nightcrawlers for the horned frogs, pyxies, Colorado River toad and the Cane toads. Everybody else will get crickets. Croakatchalayta.

Hi Marilyn. What did you see in the Adirondacks?

    To upload photos:
    - Click the "Your Pictures" link at the top of any page (when you are logged in to the forum)
    - In there click "Add Album" if you don't have any photo albums yet
    - Follow the prompts for a name and whether it is accessible to everyone (public) or private.
    - Once it is created you can click it to enter it (if you are not automatically inside it) and then click "Upload Pictures" and follow the prompts.

    Good luck!

Just chill. We have a little cabin up there on a small private lake. My son found me a little thumbnail-sized frog yesterday. He thought I might want to give it a home, but I told him that the cute little fella already had a very nice home and that we should release him right back where he was found. (I resisted the temptation to bring him home and protect him from predators.)

How do I check out the profiles of "friends requests?"

How do I check out profiles when someone wants to be my "friend." By the way, what's involved with being a "friend?"

Well, if they want a kidney, you have to give it to them, no questions asked. If I remember right, their avatars will be visible and you can click on them to get to their profile. Or you can click on their name to get there.
