I was wondering if anyone has had these and could tell me their experience with them? I think they are super cool but all I know about them is if they are nervous or feel threatened they ball up or something?
Sorry I can't help you figure out mroe about them butt I also think they are super neat frogs... I'll be watching this thread to see if more comment on them as they are also on my short list of amphibs to invest in. Btw, lovely avatar.
They seem super cool, if they are a suitable species for me, I definetly want to invest in some!
And thanks, self portrait of myself and my friesian Xerxes, manipulated background done by a girl on deviant art. Full size image looks better

A friend of mine offered to sell me his a few months back. Some love them, and some hate the way they look. My son is just in awe with them. As i will mostly be working with terribs from now on, I declined.
They are definitely easy to keep and would make a great frog for beginners. Like your RETF, they are nocturnal. They are semi-aquatic and will hide/sleep in the water during daytime. Diet consists mostly on crickets. There are lots of place to get them in Montreal. They shouldn't be too hard to find in your neck of the wood should you decide to go with them.
Well that's good to know they are relatively easy keepers. I have no idea where to get one from unless I ask a pet store to try to get one in. I'm kinda in the middle of nowhere and far from Toronto. I'm 5 mins from the Canada/US border south of Sarnia Ontario/Port Huron Michigan. Still plan to get another red eye first, but maybe once I expand a mossy would be the way to go.
IMO they are much easier than Red eyed tree frogs as far as ease of care. Yes, they love the water and you need a good sized water feature for them. They can handle much lower temps than red eyes, into the upper 50's overnight doesnt seem to cause a problem for them. They have a LOUD call and I would recomend keeping them far away from your beedroom. These frogs will play dead on ocasion, but of the 3 I had only one would ever do it. Males will go into amplexus with other males quite often.
Mine are now at a friends house being housed with the one she had I thought might just be a female. I had one I also thought to be a female. heres what the viv looks like.
they really seem to like to current the filter puts out and will actuall sit right infront of the outlet and use it to help them shed.
