Im looking into getting some Pixies and i was wondering if anyone can help me and tell me if these are true giants or just dwarfs. I know plenty of people that bought giants and got dwarfs instead and i dont wanna be part of that group. If you guys could help i would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance
The first one looks like a dwarf to me. Hard to tell for the next two. (I am by no means an expert though.)
They all look like giants to me although could tell easier with better pics, go look at the care sheet and you will see giants are usually green with 3 lines while dwarfs are more brown
All three are giants.
Yes Edulis too has three stripes. The old rule of the three line adspersus, one line edulis has been debunked.
Here is a pic from a baby edulis
It also has 3 lime stripes.
Here are pictures of the P edulis that are mostly sold. This specie has indeed one white stripe as a baby. But this specy is not a real edulis specy
sorry for my bad english![]()
i forgot the pics
this is the real P.Edulis
well you learn something new every daywhen you say the ones with the one stripe are not edulis what are they? as thats what gets called edulis dwarf and so on in this country, this is interesting stuff, all myself and many others have tried to do is steer clear of edulis, but if they look like your male i dont think to many people would mind,

There's a thread called the pyxicephalus identification guide(I believe) a few of us participated in to help identify these "odd" pyxies. The end result was that these odd pyxies are true edulis and the ones commonly referred to as Edulis in the pet trade are actually an unidentified species.
yeah! i think i read that one time, i no there are a lot of sub species in the pixiecephalus family will they ever get sorted and put in there right orders? also there is a fellow over here has some great phibs and reptiles he has 5 large adspersus male with not one under 9 in svl, he put a post on the other day stating that not all adspersus are the same, he said his were from south africa and slightly larger than most adspersus sold in the pet trade, and are more tolerant of cold conditions ive seen these frogs and every one is huge, and a lot of the wild caught stuff over here is huge to,

It's very interesting the different pyxie "localities". The pyxies from Botswana really catch my eye. Most of the captive bred pyxies here in the U.S. are from South African descendants.
