    Nice pictures, the first one is my favorite, though I'm also quite fond of the stretched out pose in #7.

    You owe her waxworms as a modelling fee

    What kind of glue did you use for the cork bark? You can use silicone instead, it has no problems holding bark to glass. You can get clear aquarium safe stuff at Home Hardware for ~$4 but it needs a caulking gun to go with it. You'd need to keep her out of the viv for at least 24 hours though, preferably 48, if you go with silicone. Or you could silicone a magnet to the back of the bark, then use another magnet on the outside to hold it in place (not too strong a magnet, or you risk smashing the glass). They sell premade water dishes and ledges like this. This way you can do the siliconing outside the viv, and be able to move it around afterwards (for better/different photo ops).

    Thanks =)

    This is still technically her temporary tank, I'm buying her a bigger one but this is all I could afford the day I bought her. So I won't be doing anymore glueing work on this one, since we'll be using it for a tarantula after I switch her. My bf mentioned to use silicone, but he said it'd have to dry for a few days, but I didn't think DAYS.. maybe like you said 24-48 hours. My dad has a gun for it, he does pretty much everything around the house. Just any type of silicone alright? Cause I'm sure we have some. It's because I spray so much the glue didn't end up holding.

    Love the photos.... since I have dumpy's here I'm always amazed at how tiny the RTFs are.

    Thanks. I'm sure I'd be amazed how huge they are!

    I am still amazed though that she is REAL! I showed her to my dad yesterday (who didn't know I got one lol) and he said "It's not moving, is it even real?" Sometimes I look at her and think, "Nah, just fake, too pretty and exotic to be in my hand in real life." But nope!

    After 24 hours a freshly built tank can be tested for water fastness, so the silicone is mostly cured, but it can still stink at this point (like vinegar). It depends on the ventilation, but I think 48 hours is usually sufficient, more never hurts. Just make sure it doesn't smell anymore.

    I've read GE silicone II is safe in dry environments and have seen many people use it safely for years but I've also seen warnings about using anything that says it's mildew resistant so I never know what to believe. I stay on the safe side and have only used the clear Home Hardware brand labeled "aquarium safe". It also happens to be one of the cheapest

    She is indeed beautiful, Lor. I'm glad you are taking such passion in her wellbeing. And quite understandably, in wanting to show her off. She'll be very happy with you.

    kiralikceset: That sucks you can't get them there!

    clownonfire: Thanks, I care about every animal's well being. I don't know anyone who loves and cares about animals as much as I do lol. I'm sure those people are out there, I just don't know any in person .. I had 16 cats and spayed and neutered every single one of them. A few found homes, I'm down to 11.

    I'm heading up to the pet stores in Sarnia today (we only have Pet Value in my town and there's nothing exciting there). I made some $ yesterday selling some of my horse tack I don't use, so I can afford to get Orchid her new tank! I'm just not sure if I'm going to go with the 12x12x18 or the 12x12x24. I did want to get the larger size, but it's $108. I can afford it, but I wouldn't have much left over for other things I want to get her as well (wax worms, new plants, a fogger, heat pad, a second water dish).

    If you hypathetically only had enough funds for a couple items what would you pick up first? Fogger or heat pad? I do have a night glo lamp that adds a bit of heat, but I also mist constantly lol. And thoughts on what size tank please! I'll be leaving in a couple hours.
