    Default New pyxies

I wasn't looking for new pyxies but I couldn't left these giant edulis (there are so many different edulis forms) pyxies at the petstore. There were just 2 of them. It are 2 males about 7 inches. A bit smaller than a giant male adspersus. They are verry agressive compare to the adspersus and the other strange pyxie I got.

Grats on the pickup. Those are beautiful specimens, making me want to try a dwarf now.

Looks like a Calabresi's Bullfrog (Pyxicephalus obbianus) to me, likely wild caught. Excellent pickup.

Thanks! Yes they are 7 iches but idd are te male adspersus more massive! These frogs are big but have tin arms and legs. I had the same frogs 2 years ago and they were verry weak. These look more rubust now. I mean with more agressive that they continius fighting with eachother when put them in the same tank.
They make the typical edulis call, short yap yap. so I guess these are a bigger form of the normal edulis. Nice frogs. I have also another edulis/adspersus pyxie (see pics in my album) but he looks more like a adspersus but also makes the edulis call.
I think there are a lot "edulis forms of the pyxie" Africa is big so I guess we never find the answer.
